Album Notes

"Boswell brings chops, class, and style" - guitarplayer.com
"David Boswell's style on I Like That is innovative and intensive....... Simply one of the best guitar albums of this decade" - smooth-jazz.de

“Boswell has a talent for telling a story without the articulation of a spoken word...David Boswell is one of the very promising talents on the independent jazz circuit.”
Karl Stober, ejazznews.com

“I Like That” by guitarist and multi-instrumentalist David Boswell is the melodically beautiful and harmonically spirited and powerful follow-up to his first two releases. This phenomenal recording features Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets, Alan Holdsworth) on the bass, Nelson Rangell (Koch Records recording artist) on the saxophone, MB Gordy III (Frank Zappa, Doobie Brothers) and his brother John Boswell (Hearts Of Space recording artist) on the piano. The CD was produced by Boswell and mastered by world class grammy nominated engineer Rich Breen.

“The music on this CD is so inspired and is my most favorite set of music that I’ve ever written. Every tune takes you on a musical journey. It’s very uplifting. I am so thrilled to have Jimmy, Neslon, MB and John on this record. These guys are really some of my most favorite musicians in the world. I wrote some of the music to feature the playing of these amazing musicians.”

“...amazed at how Boswell marries new sounds and techniques, generally not even thought of and actually attempting to push beyond the limits of tomorrow....his guitar strums speak emotions loud enough to feel.”

I LOVE I Like That ! !
author: Ken Mackey
I am not the easiest guy in the world to impress musically. It's not that I am some music snob, but I know what I like when I hear it. I swear David just gets better with every CD! I realize that artists don't want their newest CD to sound like the last CD and David has pulled that off with total success. If you listen to all 3 of his excellent CDs, you might not make the connection that they are all his. They are all top shelf as far as I am concerned. A word to David: Make all the great music you can while you are young or be sure to have a muse, because even the best artists I have ever enjoyed seem to loose what ever that musical spark is that keeps musicians making great music. I am already waiting for his next CD. Who knows, maybe David and his equally talented brother, John, might do a project....?
