Sounds Off

by David Brookings

Davids' debut album was released in the fall of 2000 in Richmond, Virginia. Recorded in a basement on an 8-track machine, these songs have an energy and rawness to them that help it stand along some of his latter, more well produced ventures.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In the summer of 2000 David quit his band 'The Sound'. Deciding to record a solo record, he called the project 'Sounds Off'. Longtime friends Josh Scolaro and Jason Horst produced the record for $300 in a basement studio in downtown Richmond. It was not made available digitally until the spring of 2010. It is greatly outsold by his 2nd through 5th albums, and is not the place to start if you're new to David Brookings. Energy-wise though, and from a songwriting perspective, its right there with the others. A fun and loose mood pervades the album, and Davids' wife Shelby even calls it her favorite of them all
