About David…

Music. Faith. Family.

These 3 words describe the life of David Carnes. From his earliest years he was blessed with a loving family that was musically talented and passionate about their Christian faith. David learned to play piano at a very young age and played his first two-hands piece for his mother at age 3. While growing up David continued to study piano and after earning an undergraduate degree in Piano and Composition he pursued post-graduate studies at Georgia State University.

One of David’s greatest joys is to touch and encourage the hearts of his listeners with his music. He is referred to as a “poet at the piano” by his friends at the Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Atlanta, where David has served as pianist and staff member for over 25 years.

His concert performances and mission work have taken him across the US and to points such as Great Britain, the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. David is well known for his beautiful arrangements which are widely published and internationally distributed.

“Journey…A Praise Offering” is David’s 5th solo recording and the 6th in the “Journey” series if you include “A Journey Together”, made with his wife, vocalist Tricia Carnes. “Journey” is a special word for David as it is important for him that his music “goes somewhere” or better yet takes the listener somewhere – deeper on their Spiritual Path. David’s work also includes piano performance on the Grammy-nominated album “The Refreshing”.

When David isn’t performing concerts, he is often leading worship with Tricia, teaching seminars and coaching. He also does studio session work and accompanying for other musicians. David and Tricia have two sons, Christopher and Patrick, and they currently reside in Marietta, GA.
