Love Inside a Jar

by David Garnham and the Reasons to Live

Country tinged ballads about booze and women, fueled by isolation and self-loathing. Twisted love, the human condition and gin feature prominently in songs laden with candour and ignorance alongside the much admired musings of Toby Robinsons’ dobro.
Genre: Country: Alt-Country

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
David Garnham and Toby Robinson became acquainted after being the last two up at the party. They share a love for melody, a narrative, dry humour and a stagger.

Twisted love, the human condition and gin feature prominently in songs laden with candour and ignorance alongside the much admired musings of Robinsons’ dobro.

Dave was lucky enough the go through the Telstra Road to Discovery development program in 2011, strengthening his relationship with mentor Charles Jenkins when he and Producer/Engineer extraordinaire Justin Rudge came to Darwin to record the debut DG&TRTL album 'Love inside a jar'.

Debut single “Here we go” was lucky enough to take out the NT Song of the Year gong, as well as the blues and roots category. The title track of their debut album also took out the country category.

“I love the way David Garnham writes from the heart… and alot of other places as well. His songs are fuelled by honest observations about life and how it can revolve around women and drinking. Not surprising when you meet the man. He’s one of a kind singer/songwriter… he makes me smile alot more than most.”
Bill Page, Creative manager, Mushroom Music

“Dave always has great songs… you never hear the work involved, such is his skill, and talent, and understanding of what goes into a great song.”
Charles Jenkins

“An artist with true integrity and soul.”…
Glen Hannah, 2010/11 CMAA Musician of the Year
