, singer-songwriter David Garza releases Dream Delay, his 21st full-length album. A multi-instrumentalist, Garza wrote, performed and produced all tracks on Dream Delay himself, with guest appearances by touring buddy Fiona Apple, Minstry’s Al Jourgensen and Sleeper Car/Sparta/At The Drive In’s Jim Ward.
Born and raised in Irving, Texas, Garza attended Catholic high school by day and performed in Dallas’ Deep Ellum by night. While still a teenager, David became a mainstay in this funky warehouse district and hotbed of alternative Texas music… the same scene that produced Tripping Daisy, The Toadies and the Old 97's.
Early on in his touring career, Garza devised a fan-friendly “Single Bill Theory”—at his shows, he asked no more than five bucks per cassette, no more than ten bucks for a CD. Whether performing on UT Austin’s West Mall in 1989 or LA’s Largo in 2008, he has stayed loyal to this DIY business model throughout his prolific career, releasing new music about once a year since 1990. And his fans have rewarded him with the love reserved for legends: In 1999, David was voted runner-up for Austin Chronicle Musician of the Decade—second only to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
When he’s not busy criss-crossing the country touring his own material, David is sought out as a collaborator by alternative music's best singers, songwriters and producers. Alejandro Escovedo and Fiona Apple handpicked him not only to open for their national tours, but also to back them up on guitar and keyboards. David also is a dependable gun-for-hire in the studio—both behind the mixing board (producing Juliana Hatfield) and in the recording booth (playing on Rhett Miller’s solo CD, Jon Brion’s solo CD and Charanga Cakewalk’s debut disc). Along the way, he’s won over some highly regarded fans, many of whom can’t keep off stage when he’s in town—Jon Brion, Nickel Creek, Grant Lee Phillips and Fiona Apple regularly sit in with him.
Most recently, David Garza has been showered with love online (thanks to his digital only EPs), on the road (especially at LA’s Largo and UT Austin’s Cactus Café), and in the media (garnering praise from KCRW, Village Voice, NY Daily News, Austin Chronicle). Discover the latest chapter in this exciting and funky performer's artistic journey when David Garza releases Dream Delay to the world.

Outstanding record in a dense, varied, and often rewarding catalog. Fans of Joseph Arthur's first four records or Chris Whitley's later, more ethereal work on Messenger Records will really dig this.
