ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This 5 song EP from Los Angeles solo artist David Gergen, is the newest release from this americana troubadour. The CD leads off with "Revenge is an octopus", a rocking number that makes you think of a garage rock band but then you must remember, this album is performed entirely by one man. The 2nd song, "Elysium" is a 7 minute track that takes the listener through a tale of longing to be with someone you love, in another life perhaps. Song 3, "They get you when they wanna" brings in a sonic electro blast from another dimension. The lyrics take on a life of their own, painting a picture of life dictating it's terms in a way that's far beyond our control. Track 4, "On my mind" has almost a pop soul feel to it. It's a sparse arrangement with vintage keys and air to breath for the vocals to ring through clearly. The EP finishes up with track 5, "We won't cry at the burial". A moody, atmospheric track that takes you from desert scenery to the great beyond, while celebrating the lives of those we have lost. These songs are deeply lyrical and inspired by the mysteries of life and the people we care about during our short stay on earth.
