A Magnum Opus
author: Eugene Benjamin
One of the best melodic rock albums of all time. Serious. If you're a guitar afficionado, then you've come to the right place to worship at the altar. But there's more, much more to this great recording. I suppose that behind every truly great guitar player there is a musical sense which goes beyond the frets and how fast or smoothly the fingers scurry across the neck. For me, it's the melodies and they are ample here. As far as pure songwriting goes, the selections here excel. Even if he never played a note, DG is one of the greatest contemporary songwriters in the vein of great Americana Rock and Roots that I have heard in a great while. My favs are: Keep a Rollin' On, 10,000 feet, Jet Trails in the Sky and of course, Good Day for the Blues. But all tunes rock mightily, and the melodic sense and progressions are just so refreshing...the transitions really sublime... A tour de force, to be sure. I wish the vocals were more upfront. David has a delicate and very melodic voice, and I just had a bit of trouble hearing the lyrics to 10.,000 feet clearly...my only "complaint". Can't wait for his next offering.

The Best Artist Nobody Knows About
author: Jon L.
Wow, every time I listen to this CD I catch another killer guitar lick or another great turn of phrase. I'm glad Dave decided to feature more vocal work on this CD because his delivery has something all too often missing in most of today's music - true honesty! He makes you FEEL the joy of new love sitting in that jet at 10,000 feet! I'm not saying he's the greatest vocalist in the world - just that I'd rather listen to him than some American Idol wannabe who turns every song into a vocal exercise! The only thing that bums me out is that now I gotta wait for his next CD!!
If you want GREAT Texas roots rock with killer musicianship – this is the CD for you.
