Album Notes

David Harris is a consummate musician with a highly varied and diverse background. Born in 1970, in the Kansas City area, David demonstrated an interest in music at a very young age. By the age of 2, he began playing the piano and took up lessons shortly thereafter. At the age of 18, David moved to Wichita, Kansas where he received degrees in Piano Performance and Pedagogy, with emphasis on Organ and Voice from Wichita State University. While in Wichita, David quickly established himself as a society pianist and served as the resident music director and house pianist for many respected establishments, including the Crown-Uptown Professional Dinner Theatre, and the Empire House Restaurant and Theater, where he served as music director for numerous Broadway musicals. In January of 1999, David moved from Kansas to the East Coast, where he served as music director and pianist for Unity Church of Sussex County in Lafayette, New Jersey, organist and choirmaster at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Fairfield, Connecticut, and most recently director of music and organist at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield, Connecticut. David has also served as pianist for three Off-Broadway musical productions at the York Theatre Company in New York City, including, "Taking A Chance On Love", "Postcards On Parade", and "The Grass Harp". Moreover, David has worked as arranger and orchestrator for many organizations, including the prestigious Rodgers and Hammerstein Foundation in New York City. In addition to local theatre projects, David is often seen performing at private parties, restaurants, piano bars and cabarets in the greater New York City and Connecticut area. David is the institutional sales representative for Steinway & Sons, Steinway Piano Gallery Westport, in Westport, Connecticut. David performs and records albums regularly as the Pianist of the Piano / Theatre Organ "Dynamic Duo" of David Harris and Jelani Eddington.

LIKE A GREAT PIANO BAR AT HOME!

David Harris, whom I heard (and met) at an unusual concert outside Boston- where he played fantastic duets with a great "Mighty Wurlitzer" organist- is fantastic on his own, too! The clips I heard here, covering a batch of great old and new standards, are beautiful. Not only is David a top-drawer piano player- I caught bits of every style from stride/swing to classy ballad- he's a great vocalist, with a pleasant, boyish tenor that's both warm and expressive at once. This sounds like a wonderful set for fans of cabaret-style artists; I can hear, and see, David as a fine piano-room regular somewhere. A definite in-the-cart item for sure!

This is a most romantic CD with great old love songs and new ones. It is a perfect Valentine's Day recording, but I find myself playing these songs all year long. It can make you cry or laugh; it really stirs you inside. This CD moves me and is exceptionally clear and beautiful. The musician portrays such feeling. It's awesome for sure!

The CD sounds really good, and the artist plays the piano better than I have ever heard...with so much feeling. And to top it off, he has a great voice as well that just goes perfect with the sound of the piano. Really Nice!
