Album Notes

Originally released in 2002, this CD is clearly the vision of Dru Kepple, the worship leader of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church during the early part of the 2000's.

The church needed a new sound that was not being supplied by the Rejoice! Band, so we reformed our worship band into a four piece alternative rock band called Splintered. Splintered had the privilege, for many years of representing an edgy vision of what church music could be as reflected in the two worship pieces on the CD, "Lift" and "Heavenly Father." This style was consistent with the alternative youth we were reaching on a regular basis in our outreach: those who were hungry to hear about God, but did not believe that the church was a source of God's love due to its inconsistency and hypocrisy. The Splintered band directly led to our creating a new outreach called "The Revolution Church," the intention of which is to reach those who are hungry for God but will not seek God in a church setting.

This is, unfortunately, the one and only CD that Splintered recorded representing this strong vision. Shortly after its completion, Dru was called to Oregon, and was replaced by Richard Dutzman. Shortly into the recording of Splintered's 2nd CD, Richard died suddenly and unexpectedly. The second Splintered CD, "Story of My Life," therefore, took over 8 years to complete and is a significant departure from this driving, alternative rock sound.

The influence of U2 and the Cranberries are evident in the arrangements and style of Dru and Splintered. This CD is a musically mature journey with a strong beginning and ending.... Don't miss the hidden track by David Jones at the end of the CD, a song about the heartache and regret of broken relationships.
