Everyone has a story to tell and “Better You Here Than Alone,” is David’s story. Once the first track begins to play he captures you. You can’t stop listening. Hook, line and sink. I’m caught. There is no going back. His voice alone, passionate and hypnotic as it is, leaves you anticipating for more. If you’ve ever found yourself faced with so many questions about life, debating which door you should choose or how to step away from the past…he has the power to help you almost make that decision in his music. For those who embrace in matters of the heart, these songs are indeed poetry in motion. His words are sung like a beautiful sonnet. For those who can relate to the true depth of love unattained, for pain of past mistakes, questioning regrets, and for simply being who you are, David reaches out to his listeners with no holds bars. He is honest, courageous and sincere with his words. There is no explanation needed for the deepness and beauty his heart portrays. There is not one single song to be disliked on this entire CD. Take “Two Avenues,” a brilliant song based on Robert Frosts “The Road Not Taken.” I must say that whatever road David takes, you can guarantee I will follow. Then there is “Muse.” David asks…”Can I use you as my muse? That’s all I ask for day to day. No this use won’t be abused.” I believe we all long to be someone’s muse. My personal favorite and honestly an addiction “False Door,” says it all. This to me by far is a masterpiece in itself. I am mesmerized by this song. I was actually listening to it on the way home from work the other day. Twice in a row I must admit. I literally ran a red light because I was so intent on the breathlessness of his voice when he sings, “Cause you know there’s no denying it. We feel each other once again.” *sigh* I can go on and on and on…but you have to listen for yourself!! If you’re not willing to be brought along for the ride than you’re surely missing out on one of the best singer/songwriter’s you could find. You can’t just listen once. It’s impossible. I find that each time I play the CD; I discover something else in his music I didn’t discover before. He is talented beyond belief.
