The songs from Tough Stuff were written to help children equate effort with eventual success. We want children to know that mistakes can be good, because they help you learn.

As an example: A child stands before a table covered with puzzle pieces. Does she tackle the task of assembling the puzzle, one piece at a time, or become overwhelmed by the process and move on to another activity?

The child with mastery motivation relishes challenges and doesn't run away from them, while others may fear failure to the extent that they avoid challenging tasks at all costs. By avoiding tasks that could possibly end in failure, children will miss out on many learning opportunities. This CD appeals to children ages 3-8 and is especially popular with young boys.

Growing Sound develops music and other products that translate key findings from recent child development research into practical and entertaining products for teachers, parents, and children. Founded in 2007 as a new venture of Children, Inc., our products stimulate social and emotional development in a way that is fun for young children. While many products focus on managing children’s problem behaviors, Growing Sound is a proactive, strength-based approach to helping children discover the goodness in their lives and in themselves.

As genuine breakthroughs in child development research increase there is a widening gap between what researchers know and what many parents and teachers practice. Parents and teachers want to optimize their child’s development but they lack the time and expertise to digest the growing volume of research. Growing Sound answers this need by providing a line of products that distills the research into practical and fun activities for home and school.

Growing Sounds’ creative productions are led by David Kisor. David is an accomplished singer, songwriter, composer, performer and teacher. David uses his many amazing talents to magically translate research into fun, exciting musical productions. David regularly performs across the country (and internationally) as well as leads trainings for parents/teachers on the power of learning through music.

Children love our products because they are fun. Parents and educators love our products because they help teach children key skills like persistence, initiative and self-control. Growing Sound is committed to putting our products into the hands of as many motivated teachers and parents as possible and to make children here and around the world ready for school and ready for life.
