BIO

David K. Payne started singing at an early age. Those who knew him then remember a young boy who would stand on a chair so that he could be seen singing by the congregation. David is a native of Georgia, an honor graduate of Newton County Comprehensive High School, recipient of an honorary Bachelor of Strategic Leadership (Focus on the Bible’s Institute for Strategic Leadership), past president of the Newton County Ministerial Association, Advisory Board Member for Newton General Hospital Chaplains, College Student (Christian Life College of Stockton California and Perimeter College of Conyers, Georgia) and Senior Pastor of The Church At Covington (formerly Gospel Tabernacle) for over 20 years.

David’s wife of 27 years, Valorie, his two married children, their spouses and grandchild provide the greatest source of joy and pride in his life outside of God. Their support and encouragement has provided the foundational support that allows him continue to follow the call of God in his life.

Desiring to break down the walls that divide people causes David to lead in a way that encourages others to get to know those who are different from themselves. He is respected by his peers in ministry, his community, those in government and business as a leader whose life displays what he believes. He and his congregation have hosted many community events that reach out to the un-churched. His efforts give clear definition of the church’s mission to reach the world as Jesus.



David serves God, his family, his congregation and his community with honor and integrity. He is known for a compassion that rings clear through his heart, actions and music. His first CD, “How Blessed I Am”, simply reiterates his passion for the God who has made all things possible in David’s life and the lives of those he loves.
