“ David Landon creates plenty of excitement with his liquid heat on the guitar.” - Blues Access Magazine. With a soul-filled feel and scorching tone, David has wowed audiences at each performance.
David Landon's 2007 release "Live at Lou's" captures the current DL band live and grooving hard. Members of the band include Coco Montoya's current rythmn section (Randy Hayes on drums and Steve Evans on bass) and Tony Stead on B3 (currently with Sly Stone).
David started playing guitar at the age of twelve. After studying privately for five years while attending college in Boston, he moved to Paris, France to woodshed and perfect his craft. It was there he spent countless hours studying the masters of blues guitar like Johnny “Guitar” Watson and B.B., Albert and Freddie King.
Soon after, David began performing on the streets of the Latin Quarter where he literally stopped traffic with his four-piece band consisting of guitar, bass, drums and sax. He and his band quickly moved their show indoors and consequently became a steady fixture in the Paris club scene for the next five years as well as throughout Europe at a wide variety of venues.
In 1994, David returned to the U.S and took up residence in the San Francisco Bay Area where he currently lives and performs with his band. David has appeared in many of the Bay Area’s best clubs as well as at The Monterey Blues Festival, The Marin County Blues Festival and at the Vallejo Jazz Festival. The David Landon Band has also performed on Bay TV’s Morning Show with John Kessler and on Kofy T.V. 20’s Late Night with James Gabbert.
Since his return to the U.S., David has released three c.d.s on the Whip Records Label: Doin’ It On Your Own (1995), Chasin’ The Blues (1999) and Live at Lou’s (2007).
When he’s not leading his own band, David has also played with many other notable musicians including Melvin Seals, Lenny Williams, Bobby Reed, Frankie Lee, Bobby Webb, Earl Thomas and Deacon Jones, to name just a few.
