Just like all of Dave's Albums
author: Jeff Popp
The first of Dave's many releases, this self-titled album was my introduction to the greatest living singer-songwriter. After hearing "Fire" on a local radio station I called the DJ to get information about the song and the album. With some further detective work I located a copy. That was 30 years ago and I am still hooked! Living in the Pacific Northwest, seeing Dave live is a rare treat, and I have gone so far as to postpone summer vacations just to attend his shows. This album is a great introduction to the masterful music of this talented artist. The songs ring of memories recent and distant, joyous and sad. Hard recollections of losing everything in "Fire", simple childhood delights like "The Garden Song", and rediscovering the wonderful, pleasant feelings of coming home in "I Knew This Place". At one of Dave's concert a few year back, I realized what makes Dave's music so unique and soul touching. Rather than a lot of folk music that speaks of political and other issues that separate us, Dave's sings of the matters of life and the heart that we all share; our joys, heartaches, failures and triumphs. The kind of thing that Folk music aspires to do, but all too often fails achieve. This first of Dave's albums will inspire you, and leave you wanting more.

Love it!!

Of all folk singers, David Mallett, is, by far, the best I have heard. I have been listening to Dave since the 80's and have never been dissapointed. His albums are well worth purchasing for the folk singers library!
