Album Notes

David Martinez was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. His father is a multi instrumental musician who taught David concepts and structure of music theory. David used to watch his father play drums to great music from Grand Funk Railroad, Ted Nugent, and many other great classics. His father is also a singer/songwriter and taught David how to play guitar having backyard jam sessions.

David started playing guitar at the age of 15 and wrote his first song by the time he was 16. He was primarily a guitarist with no aspirations of singing. For years, he collaborated with many friends on songwriting projects. David primarily concentrated on playing guitar and honing his skills as a rhythm guitarist. After David graduated from college in 2000, he decided to get behind the mic. This led to a huge array of songs he began to write.

After playing live and making demos that didn’t cut it, David hired the services of singer/songwriter/producer Jimmy Willden. David went into the studio in April of 2006 and recorded a 5 song EP “What You Need”. Jimmy and David had such good chemistry, that Jimmy is going to produce David’s full length effort set for release in 2007.

David and Jimmy are going on tour in July and are going to hit such places like Tucson, Hollywood, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Paul, and many other places. For more info, you can email David at davidmartinezmusic@gmail.com
