Family Storytelling CD from A Telling Experience

Popular storyteller, David Novak, has assembled a lighthearted collection of stories in his uniquely quixotic manner. The Cookie Girl & other stories is a collection of original stories and adaptations from folklore. The title story is a great example of how the old stories can inspire new ones. Created for the daughter of family friends when on a dinner outing, "The Cookie Girl" tells of the comic consequences when a girl gets what she demands. "Emily wanted to eat cookies all the time!" A boyhood encounter with a fiddler crab is the inspiration for a magical tale from David's childhood. Coyote shows his own approach to creative problem-solving. The renowned reindeer, Rudolph, becomes so self-centered he literally becomes hung-up. The famous tongue-twister about Peter Piper gets a fresh retelling. Even the storyteller needs a second (and third) chance to get his story right with a classroom favorite: "The Grasshopper & The Ants 3x."

David Novak is recipient of the Circle of Excellence award from the National Storytelling Network.

Running time is 55 minutes for eight stories, ranging in length from two to ten minutes. Rated A: for All Ages.
