ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This was my second opportunity to form a group that used a percussionist rather than the traditional jazz drummer, a percussionist willing to eschew the brass section – cymbals, high hat, snare drum – of the typical trap set. For this recording Aharon Bolsta assembled a kit that met these parameters, a kit that ranged from tablas to woodblocks, and I think he imbued the session with dynamic textures that are both unique and complementary to the timbre of my clarinets. Vocalist Kenny Washington makes a special guest appearance on the title track, rounded out by Jason Martineau on piano, and Aaron Germain on bass.
