Who Are Da Volunteers?
Entering the rap game in 2002, two talented rappers (J.Rock and Noon aka Da Volunteers) gained popularity at an outstanding pace. Also owning their own entertainment company (Teers Ent.), the Orange Mound duo, teamed up with 8-ball and M.J.G. (8 Ways Ent. / M.J.G. Muzik) to take over the rap game. Da Volunteers put their hood (Orange Mound) on the map with the hottest song in the south, "What's Yo Favorite Color".
Their determination has brought them a long way. In 2002, Da Volunteers released their debut album, Da Game. With 19 tracks and 10,000 copies sold independently. In 2004, Da Volunteers dropped their sophomore album, Gunz and Rozes, independent in over 20 states and distributed by Select-o-hits. This album was gained them major exposure and was rated a classic by many radio stations and magazines. With 17 blazin tracks, Gunz and Rozes sold over 20,000 copies.
In 2005, Da Volunteers collaborated with other local artists to form V-Squad. Later that year, Da Volunteers featuring V-Squad, released Da Bandwagon mixtape featuring MJG, Dirty South Ridas and others. With 21 hot tracks, Da Bandwagon, sold over 20,000 copies. Its a GREAT mixtape and reinforces why Da Volunteers have proved to be popular in the past and why they will be around in the future.
To date, over 50,000 copies of Da Volunteers albums (Da Game, Gunz and Rozes, and Da Bandwagon mixtape) have been sold.
