Album Notes

Imagine the year is 1949. You're travelling through Amarillo, Texas with the radio tuned in to the local AM station. You hear the lonesome moan of Hank Williams, the simple sounds of Ernest Tubb, and all the ghosts of country music past. 70 years later, it would appear that those ghosts have returned in the form of Davy Jay Sparrow & His Well-Known Famous Drovers, who play what they call "Old Fashioned Honky Tonk" music.
The Southern Indiana based trio, which features Davy on vocals, songwriting, acoustic guitar and harmonica, Scott Currie on pedal steel and electric guitars, and Ryan Deasy on upright bass and vocal harmonies, takes the listener back to the honky tonks and bars that housed the golden era of country music in America.
Davy Jay Sparrow & His Well-Known Famous Drovers play music in the key of yesterday with the intention of entertaining the people of today: "I like to see folks dancin'. When we play a boogie woogie or a country blues number and the whole joint is jumpin', that's how I know I'm doin' my job," says Davy. Having played to hopping crowds at various festivals, music clubs, and honky tonk bars all over the midwest for the last two years, it would appear that Davy and his Drovers have been doing their jobs and then some.
It has been said that if Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams had a baby, it'd be Davy Jay Sparrow. If that doesn't peak your interest, nothing will.
