The Day After: urban.rock.sound.clash!
The inevitable re-birth of Contemporary Rock, Hip Hop & Reggae is here. It all started with Raggadeath almost 8 years ago. Now The Day After emerges from the ashes after rap veteran Michie & Darren, reunited on the street by chance, realized they were looking for each other all along. The decision was made to pick up where they left off and to take it to a new level.
Michie Mee made her name as one of the Canada's pioneer & best Rappers. Her solo career has led her to collaborate on Ladies First with other icons like MC Lyte and Queen Latifah. She starred in the TV series Drop The Beat and Smart Ask, and has done countless television commercials. She also appeared in the film In Too Deep with LL Cool J & Omar Epps, and My Baby's Mama with Eddie Griffin.
Darren Quinn, also the former guitarist for Monster Voodoo Machine, played a pivotal role in coordinating and recruiting the personnel that are The Day After aka. The D.A. Armed with songwriting, producing & touring experience, Darren is the glue that binds this band together. Ryan Ferrando brings the rock solid groove to Shamann, a long serving DJ from Michie's live set, and plays a most important role by creating and recreating sounds that otherwise would impossible to achieve.
Unconventional but commercial, the debut release Only The Illest Survive breaks down barriers and opens doors for the future, much as Raggadeath did almost a decade ago. "It's all about taking chances" says Michie, "and I credit most of my career on the chances I took The Day After is less of a chance though... and more of a gut feeling - the kind that feels right.
The video for Break The Rules was released in the spring of 2003 as a prelude to the album and hit Much Music in hot rotation and aired heavy on MTV Canada and MuchLoud. You can view the video at the band's website: www.thedayafter.ca

Amazing

This is probably the best thing I've heard in a long time. The lyrics are about real life, not the glamorous yet pure fantesy lifestyle imagined by many music artists. I also admired the uniqe music style. The backround was metal, but the vocals were very urban. It was an interesting blend.

Love it period. Its just real no doll up to make you buy just raw truth. Mich's vocals blow you away from the moment the sound starts to leave her lips to her last exhale on the record. I do this same kind of music and im very impresses with this record..must own in my collection
