Album Notes

"As If By Magic" hits the heights scaled only by true pop magicians. The third long-player from DAYBREAKER contains rustic acoustic goodies as well as heady electronic grooves.

DAYBREAKER is Chris Howard mixing baggy beats and swirly tunes into something that's like nothing you ever heard of but like everything you ever liked. Combining the British rock and rain-soaked streets of his childhood with the acoustics and sunshine of America's golden west, Chris creates power-pop driven psychedelic symphonies that free your mind and make you groove.

DAYBREAKER tunes can be purchased through CDBABY as well as from iTunes, eMusic and other download sites.

The DAYBREAKER website has all the latest news and Chris also spreads the word at MYSPACE ...

almost nick-drakey acoustic then strings pop up and beats kick in ... gets experimental at times and just pure pop rush of noise at others. produced on acid and sung while stoned ... a fun journey. hard to describe but suck it and see!

i love DAYBREAKER. chris's voice is cool and the words paint pictures. the sound is pretty and quite sixties at times - MY HONEST FRIEND almost sounds like the stones or something. or JET! ha. but then check out INDIAN SUMMER! love the SLEEP song (rios tropicales). A refreshing, off-kilter release that ranges from classic rock (My Honest Friend) to techno workout (Indian Summers) to backwards ballads recalling early Stone Roses (Simple). Not every song is knocked out of the park but pretty close and there is a charm in some of the more lo-fi, simple moments and swirly production. And when he's right on ... such as on the sublime opener or pretty closer, Daybreaker is out of this world. More acoustic next time, please! Note - this is the third Daybreaker release but the early self-released stuff is hard to track down ... 5 Stars
