Album Notes

The contemporary pop/rock style of Vertical Habits was born out of Daybreak Community Church (Valparaiso, Indiana) - the church start-up where this band leads in the weekly time of worship through music. The band consists of twelve people and uses several voices and instruments ranging from rock guitar, to flute, violin, drums and about anything in between. The name Vertical Habits was taken on through the recording – this is the church bands entry worship CD project.

So what’s the meaning behind Vertical Habits?
We believe that our daily lives need to consist of meaningful habits that are necessary in the worship of God. The habits in particular we focus on through this music are: Adoring, Confessing, Thanking and Requesting. We live our lives worshiping in a vertical way. It’s important to recognize that in whatever we do, when we do it with the heart of Jesus it all ultimately goes upward or vertical, giving God the glory. It is the bands desire that this project would stir renewal in our hearts and draw us closer to God as we seek to follow Him with all that we are.
