Album Notes

Boom and Chime is the second full-length record from The Daylight Titans. From Austin Chronicle (May 22, 2009 issue) THE DAYLIGHT TITANS- BOOM & CHIME Without overplaying the Daylight Titans' hand at only eight tracks, Boom and Chime broadcasts Andy Smith's commanding vocals and the band's 1980s-esque hard-roots drive, which conjures R.E.M. on a True Believers bender. ***1/2 From Daggerzine (December 2008) THE DAYLIGHT TITANS- BOOM & CHIME- Terrific rockin' trio from Austin, TX who have an overflow of pop smarts and hooks to match. They don't forego the songwriting one whit on this sophomore effort. Reading their influences listed in their my space site is everyone from Pavement to The Byrds to Stuff Little Fingers to The Plimsouls to The Flamin' Groovies. 8 tunes here and there is a relentless punch and drive to these tunes that keeps me coming back to them. From Absolute Powerpop (posted: 9/19/2008) The Daylight Titans-Boom & Chime. I don't know if there's such a thing as "hard roots rock", but if there is these Texans fit the description. With a driving power pop undercurrent, they call to mind early REM, The Hoodoo Gurus, The Church, and The Replacements, while lead singer Andy Smith has a similar vocal sound to the previously mentioned Jay Farrar.
