If you think you've made up your mind about jazz, hold your verdict because the jury's still out. Dayna Lynn is redefining this art form for the 21st century by bridging the gap between generations: she is introducing some and reacquainting others to scat singing. Forget the hackneyed and melodramatic shoo bee doos and dwee bops that you may be accustomed to. The smooth melodic lines she weaves are enough to evoke the sweet memory of Ella Fitzgerald. Now, throw in Nina Simone's social awareness, Stevie Wonder's poetry, and the power and grace of Roberta Flack and you've just created the phenomenon which is Dayna Lynn.

Dayna Lynn's most recent project, Listening Music, boasts her skills as a writer, performer (vocals, piano, flute) and producer. The title comes from her desire to create music specifically for listening. “We live in a world of background music...music played at the store, in the club, at the movies. However, I strive to create music that causes people to stop and listen; to lyrics and harmony that move and entice them. So, I created Listening Music.”

A graduate of Chicago's premiere fine arts high school, The Chicago Academy for the Arts, Dayna Lynn knows music and she is music. She picked up her first instrument, piano, at 3 and didn't stop there; picking up flute, saxophone and guitar along the way. She also has a degree in vocal jazz from Webster University in St. Louis. Not only is Dayna Lynn a performer she has also music directed several musical theatre productions including Congo Square Theatre's Black Nativity and Ifa Bayeza's The Adventures of Kid Zero. She also composed music for the latter.

Dayna Lynn is officially a force to be reckoned with.
