DARIO BOENTE & HUGE IN JAPAN…
The term "crossover artist" can mean many things. In the case of argentine pianist and composer Dario Boente, it means a musician who is equally at home performing romantic jazz and tango compositions on a grand piano, as he is programming world-beat electronica.
Dario's musical personality energetically bridges the Jazz-club and the Dance-club, and is a direct outgrowth of his own life. Having been brought up in Argentina and Spain, immersed in the culture of tango and Brazilian music, he pursued his formal studies at the Guildhall School of Music (London), Berklee School of Music (Boston) , the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program (New York) and his social life in the dance/electronica scene of New York, Madrid, London and Ibiza .
Dario’s compositions are extended arrangements, featuring lyrical tango-influenced melodies, exotic sounds, sophisticated harmonies and jazz solo keyboard excursions, all underpinned by surging latin electronica grooves.
For his latest project, “Huge in Japan,” Dario teams up with inspired musicians from around the globe. Collaborators include Acid jazz pioneer Ronny Jordan on guitar, three time Grammy Award winner Antonio Sanchez on drums, Jorge Pardo on flute (Paco de Lucia, Chick Corea), Luis Quintero on percussion (Percussion Madness, Louie Vega,), Gregoire Maret on harmonica (Herbie Hancock) Hector del Curto on bandoneon (Pablo Ziegler), and African singer Francis Mbappe.
As his New York audiences can attest, Dario’s music excites both the revelers in the middle of the dance floor and the avid listeners on the side.
His professional working credits include a long stint with Jazz drummer Victor Jones, piano duets with Dave Kikoski and Richie Beirach, recordings with acid jazz guitarist Ronny Jordan, and also touring with Grammy winning Louie Vega’s “Elements of Life”.
Dario has performed in more than 19 countries worldwide and his compositions have been included in several albums and compilations. Dario currently resides in New York City.

Magic fingers touched the keys and the result is plenty of great tunes with the soulful warmth.
Dario combines a jazzy riff with a dance rhythm.. an infectious house tune with latin mastercuts. Big colourful drink with a crazy straw:)
The sounds feel summery with a happy-go-lucky vibe throughout. Very tasteful, creative and harmonic.
Thank you, Dario. This album should definitely appeal to quite a wide audience!
