Fresh off of his national appearance on Jake One’s White Van Music, Seattle MC D.Black has returned with
his sophomore project; exploring the soulful side of hip hop. It provokes thought while also providing hard
hitting beats. With production from the likes of Jake One, Vitamin D and B. Brown, Ali’Yah is a far
departure from Black’s debut CD. His confident flow adds layers to the music, making the album seem like
a veteran created it. Laced with a spiritual essence, Ali’Yah has the strength of a mass choir and leaves you
feeling enthused about hip hop. It inspires, and touches you in a place that’s needed, to get through the
tough and trying times we live in today. It’s a brilliant work that further confirms that the Northwest is still
one of the world’s hotbeds for musical talent.
