Album Notes

After a few years of migrant work (working in a salmon processing plant in Alaska and on a Blueberry farm in Maine), D.B. Rouse took to the high seas for six months working as a lounge singer for a luxury cruise liner. Between storms and work, he wrote and recorded these songs on the boat.

When asked about the job, D.B. usually states that it was the best job he's ever had, and that he never wants to do it again. Because of the hours he was expected to play guitar and sing, D.B. found himself battling Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and walking dangerously close to permanent vocal cord damage.

Longing for a road instead of the ocean, and struggling with his failing health, he recorded an album documenting his experience in the thick of it. He sings about his time shortly before the cruise, working at a pawn shop in Milwaukee to becoming good friends with the on board doctor who was treating him.

An album that walks a razors edge between comedy and tragedy. An album that you'll find yourself listening to over and over again.
