Dave Costarella creates a heady brew of funk, jazz, rock and blues
author: Music Morsels Mark E. Waterbury
Dave Costarella creates a heady brew of funk, jazz, rock and blues with this blistering bad ass disc. The full throttle horn fueled boogie of "What a But-But" is like the Bus Boys on Tower of Power. "I Don't Mind" is back alley funky blues at it's finest. "La Samba De Costarella" takes a wild instrumental journey south of the border while "Party On the 4th of July" brings it back home in a way Sammy Davis Jr would be proud of. A veritable blast with great musicianship as well.

"Ain't That Somethin'" certainly lives up to its title!
author: "Blues On Stage" Gordon Baxter
"Ain't That Somethin'" certainly lives up to its title. It makes you sit up and take notice from the start, and it is guaranteed to have your feet moving before it has run its course. DC & Co combine rhythm and blues, soul and jazz to produce a great sound, which at times brings to minds bands like Roomful of Blues, and Tower of Power. DC is obviously a man with a mission to get everyone off their seats and onto the dance floors. "Ain't That Somethin'" should certainly do just that. Great stuff!
