Album Notes

He kept muttering, “I can stop the bleeding,”
as if the goal was to survive.

Here's what you need to know.

Dead Sea Effect is Peter C. Neusch (guitar, vocals on 2) and Justin Vellucci (junk percussion, bass, vocals).

The duo, which last played together in New Jersey-based post-punk outfit The Prisoner, is a blistering act just waiting for Corey Rusk's phone call. It channels the fury and precision of The Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Shipping News and Skeleton Key.

All songs were written and recorded by Neusch and Vellucci.

Dead Sea Effect's full-length debut, "Those Of Us About To Die Salute You" (May 2008, $10) was recorded with digital technology on two coasts, with Neusch in San Diego and Vellucci in Pittsburgh.

Soon, Dead Sea Effect will be splitting your eardrums, sleeping on your floor and emptying your medicine cabinet.

You've been warned.

And, here's some additional biographical information.

Neusch, a disciple of Duane Denison, plays guitar in the San Diego group Race Against Space. He is a former member of The Prisoner, Saturday Night Jaluu, and The Tree Bark Orange.

Vellucci is a musician and writer who released his ninth solo record, "Terminal Harbor," in 2007. He is a newspaper reporter by day and a madman by night.
