Album Notes

Here is a little about me, Dean Dixon. I've been singing since I can remember. I was born in Southern California in December of 1952. I know, I'm old. I graduated from Redlands High and immediately won my first and only lottery,(so far). Yep, Uncle Sam drafted me and put me in the Army. So for two years I partied and got a lot better at playing my guitar. I knew when I got out I was going to be a star. Right.....

I did the club tours, had a jingle business, lots of different jobs, I'm even a certified tennis professional. I coached and taught for a living for fifteen years. But the Artist's calling kept getting louder and saying you better get going on who you are. So once I got going again, of course my marriage fell apart. But don't worry, I'm now married to the most wonderful woman on the earth, Cheri.

Anyway, I decided that Nashville wants my songs and I meet Marty Rifkin and we do a record. Read the bio for Only The Lucky Can for that history. Because of that record I met Gary Mallaber. Now I'll tell you about, "Dixon's Band".
The players on this record and in this band are rock & roll heros. Lets start with Gary Mallaber. He's the drummer and often writer on over 500 albums. Van Morrison, Peter Frampton, The Steve Miller Band, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Rait, Jackson Brown, the list just goes on and on. And to top it all off, Gary is the nicest person and a treasured friend. Plus I don't believe their is a working musician out there who wouldn't want to work with Gary Mallaber. If you go to www.raven-band.com you can see a tribute to Gary with his complete discography. Wait till you hear the lead & rythym guitar work by Jack Sherman. He was an original co-founder of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He's done a lot of work for Bob Dylan, Gerry Goffin and his contribution to Dixon's Band is enormous. Have you seen Elton John over the last eight years. If you have, then you saw our Bob Birch playing bass. He still travels the world with Elton but we love him and he's our bass player. His list of credits is huge. Just know that he is a fellow blaster, a meat lover and a hell of a nice guy.

Herman Jackson on piano. Wow! Herman is a Star. Stevie Wonder, Whitney Huston, and a whole lot more ask Herman to work for them. Barry Goldberg plays piano and organ. he is on three tracks and is perfect. Remember the Electric Flag? That was Barry. Reggie McBride plays bass on three tunes. He's on tour with Keb Mo at this time. Marty Greb plays the saxophones. Last but not least is Michael Vail Blum. Michael owns the studio where this cd was produced. You won't see any photos of Michael. He doesn't do pictures. But you've heard the results of his talent on albums by The Who, Pink Floyd, Madonna, and way too many to tell you. Michael engineered, mixed and mastered our cd at Titan recording.

Well if you've read this far I want to thank you. Also, if you are the hundredth person to buy our cd, I will send you an autographed copy of Dixon's Band. Happy listening!
