Album Notes

"Go, so you can say you saw him when" urged Miami Herald critic Evellyn McDonnell. "Dean Fields has the voice of two angels." Fields had only just begun to pen the songs that would make up his debut release Imitations when McDonnell first saw him perform at a Florida songwriter showcase in Feb 2002. "The audience hung on his carefully rendered notes, agreeing with the words, relishing the discovery of a new talent." Florida soon heeded her advice and flocked to be the push behind his promising career.

In less than a year, Dean Fields went from relative obscurity to garnering rave reviews, performing at the premiere Billboard Live, and being voted "Best of Miami." Fields interrupted graduate school at the University of Miami and moved to Boston to focus on writing and performing his music. He is currently promoting his debut release Imitations. The album, released in October 2002, was engineered and co-produced by Sparklehorse's Alan Weatherhead (Clem Snide, Denali) at Sound of Music Studios owned by David Lowery of the band Cracker.

Dean Fields has developed a fanbase everywhere he has called home from VA to TN to FL to MA. He has shared the stage with noteworthy acts including Grammy award winner Bruce Hornsby and Boston's "folk goddess" Catie Curtis. The popularity of the male singer-songwriter is on the rise with artists like John Mayer, Ryan Adams, and David Gray. Dean Fields is poised to make his mark in this resurgence. Go, so you can say you saw him when.

Awsome!

Dean was a great musician in high school and his talent has done nothing but grow since then. Both cds are amazing with a mix of slow relaxing tunes to upbeat songs. Great all-around collection.

A friend of mine in my dorm here at Mary Washington College is friends with Fields, and had him come down and play a concert for us. I was blown away, and bought the CD that night. It is a melodic, heartfelt CD, with catchy beats and memorable lyrics. Fields will be big, and this is the CD that will start it all. Don't be the last in the know. Buy two copies - one for yourself, and one for your best friend. They will thank you for it.

Great CD, Dean is a rising star.

Great performance in lodge one at William and Mary. It pumped our team up to win CAA's that weekend and kept Jacob Frey off the stage from doing his stand-up comedy. He was better off selling the CD.
