notes

If Jimi Hendrix had grown up in eastern Kentucky he may have sounded a lot like Dean Hall. Hall's infusion of intense guitar wrangling, extreme vocal range, and clever, masterful songwriting creates a unique sound that easily spans the genres of rock, blues, and country. His songwriting roots run deep; his father is the legendary country music Hall of Fame member, Tom T. Hall.

While continuing to pursue his own artist career, Hall toured as band leader and lead guitarist for multi-platinum selling artist, Gretchen Wilson from 2005-2006. He had the opportunity to perform his original music for both national and international audiences and received an overwhelming response. Hall and Wilson wrote five songs as well as the title cut for her highly anticipated third album "The Girl I Am" due out in May, 2007.

“Polished! Hot! Absolutely incredible! Will blow your mind!” — Dion, KLOS, Los Angeles, CA

His unique look and musical wares landed Hall a supporting role in the DreamWorks film "The Last Castle" starring Robert Redford and James Gandolfini. He also wrote, produced, and sang "Chiseled in Stone" for the movie and soundtrack. Not bad for a guy who started as an extra in the movie. His first lines were with Redford.
Hall has become one of the southeast's favorite entertainers. In 1998 Winston Cup Racing tapped him to perform on the NASCAR circuit. The NASCAR crowd loved his intense guitar driven sound. He was consistently drawing over-capacity crowds of 10,000 - 18,000 people in the infields as the only performer on the show. Hall's natural athletic ability also landed him another opportunity while on the NASCAR tour; when he wasn't playing music, he was Jimmy Spencer's jackman for the 1999 Winston Cup season.

“…musically speaking, he scared the hell out of me.” —Texas Blues Magazine, Houston, TX

Hall has two CD's on his independent label, Python Records, (available at CD Baby) and he's currently writing and recording songs for his third. For more information go to: www.deanhall.com.

  • Rockin blues with licks that kill
    author: Mike J.

This CD is sweet, I've heard a lot of newer blues and this takes the cake as the best. Deans guitar licks on the album just blow me away, and the lyrics are just as good. A much needed improvement from "Shed my Skin" I think.

  • Rockin', soulful Southern rock!
    author: Mark B. Rohrer, MD

This CD is a superb collection of soulful, rocking Southern blues-based rock. Mr. Hall's singing is gut-wrenching and always sincere. His guitar playing is a synthesis of several great styles while at the same time has the stamp of his own individual approach. We need to hear more from him!

  • Rockin' Blues that you feel, Lyrics that will haunt you !

Deans guitar licks seem to be coming at you from everwhere. The Ghost of James Bell will haunt you.My Babys a Pig,Waitin by the Railroad and Moonshiners Daughter will have you beating on the dashboard.Seems that he has written the songs of his life in good and bad times. What music should be! REAL!!

  • Growing talent
author: Richard Amery Kenora Daily Miner and News

Dean Hall, Nashville blues renegade and full fledged member of the Musik Mafia alongside the likes of Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson, continues his development on his second CD — The Ghost of James Bell. He continues blending clever wordplay with ZZ Top style pinch harmonic riffs, and a rapier sharp wit, but spreads his wings to include the blood curdling folk style title track, Ghost of James Bell, which wouldn’t sound out of place on a Montgomery Gentry or Travis Tritt album, to the catchy Cadillac Ranch riff of the hilarious Low Down, Upper Class Tax Bracket Blues, to the more laid back, Louis Armstrong (vocally) style shuffle of Everybody’s Got the Blues. My Baby’s A Pig examines the tribulations of dating a gorgeous policewoman. Hillbilly Cool and Dad’s in Jail just cook. Throughout, Hall creates big singable choruses, grooves and melodies which stick in the ears. The Ghost of James Bell came out in 1997, so it’s about time we heard his third CD don’t you think?

  • We need more of this guy!!
    author: STEVE BAIRD

Nashville and the whole world needs more of this guy. He's like a white Hendrix. He must be one of Nashville's best kept secrets. My only complaint is that there are only two cd's. This is great music. Please check it out!

  • If you like hard guitar & blues... get it!
