Album Notes

In the late 80's Wolfe's resume would list : Toronto Star Delivery child-laborer, shoulder-pad fashion hustler in Stitches, Whopper flipper, shingle ripper, and chainsaw massacre. He even hosed frothing corn niblet scum in a Green Giant's hell hole, before landing his dream job at age 17: guitarist/ rock 'star', in a full time touring cover band "FXU" (they snuck in plenty of their own tunes).

First he refined a 'wall of sound' rock guitar technique in Canadian clubs- covering U2 (Unforgetable Fire days), Fixx, Tears for Fears, A-Ha, Rush (Red Barchetta or Big Money, anyone?)- while developing his own style and sound and evidently moving toward the finger-style Strat-guitar work of the likes of Bruce Cockburn and Mark Knopfler.

Three years of life on the road later, he found himself seduced... by the aromas and challenge of the saucy world of gastronomy... winning awards and securing a Red Seal Journey person's Cook certificate.

Multi-talented Wolfe rarely ignored his musical inclinations. His multi-track recorders, guitars, and part time bands were always sputtering messily on the back burners (Astro Groover, Killing Stone, Grandeur, Halogen.05).

His 'official debut' CD as a singer/songwriter was released in Toronto: "11:59" (Nov.2005). Wolfe "pays respectful tribute to...Canadian Icons Neil Young and Bruce Cockburn...elegant guitar playing...truly a one-man band..." [Jane Eamon, Winner 2007 Okanagan music awards folk artist].

Wolfe's songs on 11:59 (a self-biographical reference to his own tendency to bloom late) are cello-infused pop-folk-rock (he played all the instruments) . Other 'sounds like' comparisons: Crowded House, Bright Eyes, Damien Rice, Ben Folds, Sir Paul McCartney.

A proud St. Catharines Ontario native (the same soil that brought us Neil Peart, Ron Sexsmith, Alexisonfire), Dean Wolfe (born Dean Salmela) is married and has 3 boys. He lives in Toronto.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>NEWS UPDATE:>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Iran and North Korea both would love to access Dean's stockpile of potent songs and song ideas- and refine them into the ballistic firecrackers of smart pop rock that they are. Raising little kids is busy, and renos on the house take time: but realistically, fall 2009 and 2010 should mark the return of Dean to the scene. Look out renegade leaders- Dean's gonna be comin' at ya with his best yet.

A breath of fresh air.” “I am digging your Jack Johnson-ey vocals” “Melody is back baby!” “The lead vocals are absolutely beautiful, as are the vocal harmonies and the guitars.” “- it's nice to hear a band who knows how to write a song that actually entertains! Great story telling and imagery.”
