Debbie Fleming has been a busy Toronto studio singer for many years -- making her living as a jingle singer, and singing backup vocals for artists such as Anne Murray, Petula Clark, Engelbert Humperdink, Ronnie Hawkins, David Clayton Thomas and many more. In 1996, her love for vocal jazz harmonies, led her to assemble a group of 8 professional singers who became known as Hampton Avenue. This group won CARA awards and the Jazz Report Vocal Group Award in 1999. Hampton Avenue was together for 6 years, and recorded 2 CD's -- All I Want for Christmas, and Everybody Sing. Please check out http://www.hamptonavenue.com for more information on the group.
"A Gift of Harmony" features the core 4 singers from Hampton Avenue -- Debbie, Suba Sankaran, Dylan Bell and Tom Lillington. The arrangements were crafted by Debbie Fleming, and the 4 singers, now known as "The Hampton-4" sang multi parts in the same way as the Singers Unlimited did under the direction of Gene Puerling. Debbie's arrangements are now being sung by choral groups and jazz ensembles throughout the world -- and it's easy to see why. The songs are upbeat, sometimes funny, harmonically lush and easy to listen to.

Listening to this CD is a great way to start my day!

I love the upbeat arrangements and vocal delivery of this talented group of singers! The Mantra, although quite different from the rest of the songs on the CD, is very relaxing and haunting, and puts me immediately into "The Zone". I am including it in my Yoga tape!
