Jimmy Neutron’s voice is a welcome addition to music for kids.
author: Kathy O’Connell, MetroKids Pennsylvania
This 12-song collection starts deceptively slowly, then brings on the beat with “My Dog’s My Buddy.” The song says what dog people know so well — sometimes man’s best friend is your only friend. The album’s hit has to be Derryberry’s funky jazzy rendition of “The Wheels on the Bus.” She creates something new and wonderful from a song that has gone “round and round” a few too many times. Debi’s voice is cartoonish without becoming too shrill. Older fans will enjoy her rediscovery of Burl Ives' “The Lollipop Tree.” There’s a nice balance of old and new. Originals such as “Baby Banana” and the title track mix with well-worn classics such as “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Jimmy Neutron’s voice is a welcome addition to music for kids.
