ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Deborah Ethier is a Canadian composer/arranger, visual artist and harpist. Through performance, teaching, recording and the publishing of sheet music, she has sought to promote the versatility of the full-range lever harp with works exploring musical texture and melodic layering. She has produced two albums - "Strata" and "Phases of Light" (due out in February 2011). "Sequin Sea" is a more pop-oriented piece than those on her albums.
Her compositions have been featured in several documentary short films by British filmmaker Caroline Gardiner, specifically “Mandala” for harp and harpsichord in “Here’s an Idea” (one of the finalists in the2007 Gen Art Film Festival), “Strata” for five harps in “Taxi Driver” (broadcast by Current TV) and "13th Street" (both of which were featured at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in the UK) and “Night Train”/”Seven Crows a Secret” in “Fox” (shortlisted in the “14 Islands Film Challenge”).
She lives with her musician/photographer husband Michael (who collaborates on several tracks in the featured CDs) and a menagerie of furred, feathered and scaled beasts (some of who also collaborated).
