Linda DeBrita is a harpist and hammered dulcimer player who by profession, is also a nurse practitioner and hospice RN. She has recently combined her interests in music and medicine, becoming a Certified Music Practitioner. Her gentle and expressive style of playing has brought peace and relaxation to many patients at the bedside, and to broader audiences as well.
After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2004, Linda joined up with her good friend and classically trained flutist, Kate Oaks, to provide a collection of their favorite peaceful melodies on the flute and harp in support of ovarian cancer research. 100% of the profits of this CD will be donated to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, Inc. (www.ocrf.org), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing research, raising awareness and finding a cure for this cancer. Ovarian cancer is referred to as “the disease that whispers” because the symptoms are very subtle.
Linda is especially pleased to be joined by her sister, Phyllis Poppe, who teaches harp at Le Conservatoire de Musique d’Esh-sur-Alzette in Luxembourg, for the harp duets on tracks 4 and 10.

Absolutely beautiful, comforting music! "Whispers" puts me to sleep every night. I am sending this to friends and my daughter, a gyn oncologist, specializing in ovarian cancer. Without a doubt, her patients will receive much comfort from listening to "Whispers".

I have learned that Linda passed away the same day my dear sister passed away from ovarian cancer. May their souls rest in peace. My sister would have loved this CD and am so sorry I found it after she is has gone. I will be buying the CD as thank you gifts for all who had supported my dear sister when she was in hospice. The music is lovely and speaks like an angle. My they both be free of pain and have their spirits lifted.

I bought this for my Mother who just went thru surgery (for) and is now going thru chemo for Ovarian Cancer. She said this CD is just wonderful. She says that it really helps her relax and helps soothe the pain.
