Inspired by Tangerine Dreams soundtrack music, Riley Roden began picking out melodies on the piano in the late 1980's. Later taking up synths, he studied Jazz piano for 3 years at Ogilvy Music School before continuing on his own. In the late '90s, he produced and recorded 2 self-released cds, the first of which, Decapolis-the River, won an ASCAP special award in 1998. Roden's recording style is somewhat different than that of most others because most of his music is improvised and recorded live to 2 track, sometimes requiring many takes for each piece. Along with Tangerine Dream, Roden's influences range widely from Vangelis to Steely Dan and even Classical music like Mozart and Faure.
this album is now out of print (but only for the next 70+ years) :) you can still buy the mp3 here for a special price.
19 tracks fill up this all instrumental synth cd. A wild sonic adventure that focuses on shorter, more upbeat tracks than the previous Decapolis album The River, which tends to be slower and more laid back.
2nd flight features a wide variety of music including: new age, techno, sequenced, solo piano/keyboard, improv jazz and more.
total time: 19 tracks; about 73 minutes [ADD]

A Musical Flight of Fancy!
author: Jeffrey Gouge
After Puirchasing, Decapolis: 2nd Flight I found myself on a musical flight that was more upbeat that the original CD, but a true delight still. It took me back to childhood dreams and things, I had forgotten about. It is such a wonderful CD to enjoy. A must for any Decapolis fan! Jeffrey Gouge
