The new release "Bein' Green" presents a variety of musical styles including bossanova, reggae and blues. The album has local Northwest musicians featured including Ray Wood, Scott Spadafora, Carl Granich, Tom Russell, Eduardo Mendonça, Lorree Gardener, Guido Perla, Martin Goldstein, Bruce Johnston, Spencer Hoveskeland and Luke Painter.
Michelle Dedman has been singing jazz standards, blues, bossa nova, folk, and more in the northwest since she moved there from Texas in 1987. Songs from 1920's to the 1940's are her favorite. She is known for her singing, but she is also a rhythm guitarist. In the 90's she fronted her own quartet and produced a jazz/folk CD called "Meet Me Where They Play the Blues". At the same time she was the drummer and sang in the Seattle vocal swing band "Beats Cookin'". In Olympia,Wa Michelle plays guitar and ukelele in “Bevy", an all-woman ensemble that plays Latin-American and African rhythms and songs, jazz standards and music by local composers.

Bein' Green

Fine arrangements of standards, plus a tune by Michelle herself, oh yes indeed this is music as music should be: a rewarding experience from the part of the musical world where music is done for the love of music without being contaminated by copycat conformity. Michelle has her own vision, her own tastes and her own strengths, and they're captured on this CD.

Thank you Michelle. Fantastic!. Being' Green is #1 on my stack of CD's. You have taken "first on the stack" away from Van Morrison and believe me that take's some doin'....Congratulations on a truly great musical artwork. Your side men have done a fine job of supporting your vocals. Please don't keep me waiting so long for the next one. I suggest to people that are thinking of buying this CD to get 3 copies the first order so they don't have to reorder to get copies to give to their friends.

Flawless in Green

I am an avid music lover, and have for more than 45 years added at least three new albums a week to my collection. It is has been several years since I have enjoyed an album so much. Dedman blends her incredible vocal skills with a touch of early 60's Washington State Folk Music (Yellow Bird & Cry of the Wild Goose) with dynamite arrangements of pop standards to produce a stunning collection of songs.
