ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
***His song "Truly" is currently being played on Smooth Jazz radio around the world***

Talented Vocalist and Multi Instrumentalist has released his exciting debut album, Little Red Box, and has
already thrilled his fans around the world.

This release marks a huge step in this multi-talented singer-songwriter’s career. D. Edward, who lives in
Oakland, California, is currently promoting the album which will hopefully build upon his current fan base
and get his music heard by more people than ever.

The album, “Little Red Box ”, consists of eleven original songs, with a combination of heartfelt lyrics, catchy
melodies and solid grooves. The music is punctuated through out with elements of pop, soul, jazz and latin.

D. Edward plays most of the instruments but is also supported by a few other talented musicians who also
work with Stevie Wonder, Con Funk Shun, Goapele, Martin Luther, and Lenny Williams. It is a self produced
labor of love. The album was mastered at Studio D Recording in Sausalito by Joel Jaffe, who is responsible
for post production and recording work with Carlos Santana and Wayne Shorter, Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind
and Fire, Bonnie Raitt, Ringo Starr, Smashmouth, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and the Manzerek/Rogers Group.

The concept of “Little Red Box” is love, find it, losing it and living it. He draws upon his experiences and
incorporates them into his music. Inside is the gift of love and it makes all things possible. This album is his
heartfelt offering to that concept.

“Little Red Box” is a glimpse into his musical upbringing and influences. He grew up listening to old school
R&B, soul, pop, hip hop, country, Latin and even crooners like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. He is an
accomplished hand percussionist playing and touring with legendary R&B group Con Funk Shun. As a child,
he was always drawn to the lyrics of songs he heard on the radio and knew that music was what he wanted
to do when he grew up. After taking trumpet and clarinet in elementary school and singing in the chorus
of a few school musicals, he went onto take piano lessons and then began playing congas in high school.
It was at Berkeley High School that he was recruited to be drummer for the Afro-Haitian dance classes.
In college he studied music theory, jazz arranging and composing as well as playing in local jazz and
dance cover bands. Songwriting is one of his passions and wrote songs ,while studying music in school, at
home.
His debut album is his introduction to the world as a singer-songwriter and has received rave reviews by
those who have heard it.
Here are some of the things fans are saying : "Amazing D! You are amazing! I love it!",
"Wow it's packed with TLC! Luv it absolutely!",
“It’s been a long time since new music got me so caught up. I’m loving every cut.... especially Cool Breeze.
hot!!!”,
"OMG ... "Truly" is so great! Most excellent writing + production as well! Bravo, bravo."

SmoothJazz.com Review
Think of Oakland-based singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist D. Edward’s debut album LITTLE RED BOX as a blender full of flavors… all of them smooth, sweet and savory… from jazz to soul to Latin to pop and blues. His first radio single, “Truly," is a hit, an engaging heartfelt vocal with a melody that you will easily find yourself humming or whistling over and over after only a few listens! As for the rest of his eleven originals, they’re just as impressive, illustrating Mr. Edward’s prevailing theme of love… finding it, losing it, living it. I love this guy’s style! He’s totally at-ease with his clever intonation and turns of phrase. And the melodies? First-rate and memorable! In fact, the last track on the album, “The Passage,” is an incredibly tasty instrumental that’s perfect for Smooth Jazz. Not to gush here, but D. Edward’s LITTLE RED BOX shines brilliantly with an abundance of creativity and freshness!
