Album Notes

Who are the Deedle Deedle Dees?

The Deedle Deedle Dees are an educational rock band based in Brooklyn, NY. Since October 2003, the band has been entertaining family audiences with songs inspired by history and science -- "Underground Railroad," "Nellie Bly," "Rancher Ants" -- as well as simple movement-based tunes like "Play Your Hand" and "Vegetarian T-Rex." The Dees current line-up features Ulysses S. Dee (AKA Lloyd Miller, teacher) on upright bass, rhythm guitar, and vocals; Innocent Dee (AKA Anand Mukherjee, teacher) on lead guitar and vocals; Booker Dee (AKA Chris Johnson, teacher, choir director) on keyboards, banjo, ukulele, and accordion; and Otto von Dee (AKA Ely Levin, writer) on drums.

The Dees have recently finished recording basic tracks for their new album, tentatively titled Dee-Mocracy. The band's first all-American history album, Dee-Mocracy will include concert favorites like "Bring 'Em In" (about Satchel Paige) and "Little Red Airplane" (about Amelia Earhart) as well as brand-new compositions requested by fans like "Party Girl" (about Eleanor Roosevelt) and "Growl Growl" (about the 13-year-old kid who designed the Alaskan flag).

UPCOMING SHOWS:

April 11th, 11am -- Symphony Space, NYC
Although Dee-Mocracy won't be out officially until June, the Deedle Deedle Dees are going to perform the whole thing live at Symphony Space-- don't miss this one-time sneak preview!

REVIEWS

we all love this cd!

We're vegetarians, so of course I love the vegetarian trex song; but the whole CD is absolutely amazing! I've learned a thing or two from it, and my 4yo asks me to look things up that he hears in the songs; Henry Box Brown, for example, we were inspired to read more about the real story. I even listen to this CD at work because it doesn't sound like the typical kid music...my toddler loves it as well, he dances and smiles at the start of each song! Thank you Deedles!!!

my daughter loves it!

My daughter and I saw the Deedle Deedle Dees at a public library in Lexington, KY and were immediately fans...I purchased the CD shortly after that. Whenever my little one gets in the car, she shouts, "Please play the Deedle Deedle Dees, PLEASE!." She knows all the lyrics to just about every song now. Great music for kids and adults.

totally rocks, sly but ever-enlightening take on history, science, & social studies, it's not cute (making anti-cute moms like me very grateful)
