Buy Great Independent Local Music and Help Support The Deep Roots Music Project for Youth Now!!!

Bart Ferguson, Ryan Andrews, Kris Kirkman, Colorfield, Rob Stroup, Stephanie Schneiderman, Tom Grant, Breanna Paletta, and more.

The Deep Roots project features some of Portland, Oregon's finest musicians who, for the ninth year in a row, have teamed up with a group of high school students to put out a powerful 20 song CD.

In order to create this compilation, titled "Deep Roots 9," the song writers visited a high school classroom and taught a writing workshop for the students; sharing the tricks of their trade. Then the young writers tried their own hand at lyric writing. Eventually, the musicians took the young writers' words and turned them into these songs.

The high-schoolers not only wrote the lyrics, but helped design the CD cover, took photographs, wrote press-releases, maintained an awesome web site (deeproots.com), and coordinated an annual CD release concert.

The music is great, and all proceeds from the CDs' sale go back into the project's production costs. Along the way, students learn that hard work and perseverance pay off, and they also discover that their voices are powerful and their ideas, worthwhile.

That all adds up to make this project one of the coolest around. Want to help? All you have to do is buy a great CD at a bargain price. Enjoy.

I have a song for this one, but all my classmates worked really hard on this one, and four years later, I still love listening to the previews cause I havent bought the cd yet!!  Anyone should listen to it, this is a real work of art along with all the other eight and all the ones who came after it!! Keep it up, anmd itll turn in to a world wide project someday!!

it was an amazing project, I worked on it and so did many people throughout the years. I hope it continues for many years!!  Thanks for giving me an oppertunity and I wish I woulda bought the cd, cause fours years later I listen to the previews everytime I come on this site and sing along wit it!!

The BEST Deep Roots CD EVER!!!

I was so happy to have had the opportunity to work on this cd project.  It was an amazing experience and the CD turned out awesome!  It is by far the best Deep Roots cd done so far and I'm not just saying that because I worked on it.
