Definition is a hip-hop group from Cincinnati, OH. They consists of two emcees/producers, Zone ill and ill poetic, and are also part of a large collective known as the All Ranges of Thought.
Their music consists of multiple styles, ranging from storylines, battle-oriented, conceptual, to social-political joints. Their vibe is usually on a more jazz tip.
Emcee-wise, their influences include: Mos Def, Common, Ras Kass, Talib Kweli, The Liks, Canibus, The Roots, and more.
Producer-wise, their influences consist of Madlib, Premier, Hi-tek, J.Rawls, Organized Noize, J-Zone, and more.
In 2002, they released the "Definition EP" to critical acclaim and began building a fanbase. You can also catch them on the Boiling Point distributed "Boom-bap for Neanderthawls" Compilation.
In May of 2003, they plan on releasing their debut full length album, "The Lost Word," featuring production by ill poetic and phaslyfe, with appearances by Pryslezz and Prose (of All Ranges of Thought).
