ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Cukoo Crow is the musical accompaniment to the 2006 theatrical production of the same name. It is the Degenerate Art Ensemble's most fully realized audio recording, and tells the fable of a magical young girl existing in a vast forest and overcoming a number of dark detractors on her way to self realization and rebirth.

This album spans classical, butoh, indie, jazz, punk, noise, truly everything. For those familiar with the theatrical work, it will rekindle many of the visuals of the performance, and for those who are new to the songs, they create a truly expansive realm within which you can visualize the story unfolding. The CD comes with a 10 page booklet that has excellent photos of the band in character from the theatrical performance and ornate calligraphic illustrations of the lyrics.

For those of you who know this band, and who enjoyed The Bastress and Rinko, this is going to astound you! If you listen with headphones, you can hear many of the soft layers of electronis keyboards as well as the subtle doubling of Haurko's vocals and the delicate string section.

It is Incredible!!
