I was born in 1965 and raised in Euclid, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. I studied piano privately for 7 years while in grade school. I continued to play throughout high school and college, and have earned my living as a professional pianist since graduating from John Carroll University in 1987.
I have written and released three previous new age projects, a cassette titled Music in an Old House, and two CD’s: Crossing the Bridge and Still. I was also featured on a worldwide release for Narada Media titled First Light: Piano Solos.
My latest release HOME was written and recorded in April 2007. I had been planning to do another new age project since my last one STILL which was released in 1998.
I was inspired to write and record a CD based on my memories of growing up in Euclid, Ohio. Each song has a story behind it, and all of those stories can be found at my blog at www.myspace.com/johnbdehaas or you can cut and paste the following into your browser:

Very relaxing
author: Jerry G. Jones
John's playing on this is very precise and instantly relaxing. I am a fan of the NARADA artists such as David Lantz and George Winston, and this CD instantly reminded me of them, but in a more modern style. Very nicely done John. You are very talented. I wish you the best in 2008.

Good as ever!
author: Janean
John's writing is extremely good and I hope there will be many more new CD releases after this one. As another reviewer has stated, his work is on par with Peter Kater, as well as Jon Schmidt, Jim Chappell, Danny Wright, Mark Sloniker and many other new age pianists I've had the good fortune of discovering. Melodic and sentimental, John's latest CD "Home" feels like home.

What I like most about John's music is that he tells a story.
author: Andrea Canny
What I like most about John's music is that he tells a story. Sometimes the silence between phrases transmits just as much of the emotion as the notes. He's completely letting us in on his emotional experience of that time. What an honor.
The 8 seconds of silence before the very 1st note in Coach makes my heart ache instantly for the story to unfold in the piece.
