With a demo so sparce they didn't even give me the song titles. But I'm so enamored with this band I'm going to play them anyway, whatever it might be called. - Richard Milne, WXRT 93.1 Chicago
Every time I hear The Delafields CD a different musical flourish grabs my attention, accordian, piano, harmonica, lead guitar. This is live roadhouse and honky tonk music with a pop sound in the best sense of the word. If you can't get to see them, take the CD home, crack open a beer and dance around in the kitchen.-- Tom Jackson WLUW 88.7 Chicago
The Delafield's performance schedule the past two years has almost exclusively revolved around a monthly gig at the popular neighborhood bar, Simon's Tavern, at the corner of Foster and Clark in Chicago. It is in this small and smokey venue where The Delafields chose to quietly hone their impressive sounds while building an almost cult like following. With the release of their debut CD, "The Delafields", they make their presence known to the Chicago music scene.
Recorded by popular punk rock producer, Matt Allison, nine original and two traditional songs make up the CD. Sounds of bluegrass, rock, pop and a mysterious hint of Civil War era songs were carefully woven together by Allison's dynamic punk sensibility. The merging of these forms bring a sound all its own that is both accessible and distinctive.
Allison, best known for his production work on all the Alkaline Trio records as well as The Lawrence Arms, Duvall, Sarge, and early Uncle Tupelo says of The Delafields' CD, "This is a great example of how American music should be known. It's one of my favorite records I've recorded and it will be a shame if it's not heard by everyone."

An Harmonica Party!
author: Ctrl Alt Country
The five lords save the most beautiful number till the end as dessert. That is, after all, the hidden bonus track Saulina, a jaunty, elegant alt-country roots-rock number boosted by an extraordinarily vigorous harmonica party. (Translated from the Dutch.)

...well crafted originals, wonderful instrumentation, vocals, and arrangements
author: Clint Weathers
On their eponymous CD, The Delafields say two things right up front that I'm always happy to hear: First, that the heart and soul of country music has vacated Nashville and planted itself firmly in Chicagoland. Secondly, that Americana isn't just American. There is truly wonderful conjunto accordion work from Eddie Torrez that compares well to that of the great Flaco Jimenez, and it gives the CD just a flat-out fun quality. There is also great songwriting from Paul Quaintance and Scott Anderson. This CD throws in obvious influences from all over the American music spectrum, shakes them up, strains them out, and serves up 101 proof authenticity. Along with their well-crafted originals, The Delafields put the torch to two traditionals, "Sitting On Top of the World" and "Lonesome Blues"that will have you singing right along. For purely bonus points this CD definitely gives the impression that this has to be a fun band to see live. That speaks a volume for the production work done by Matt Allison. The sound sparkles and shines with a wonderful balance, giving the listener that sense of being within arm's reach of the stage. With their wonderful instrumentation, vocals, and arrangements, it's almost a shame they didn't include one of the wonderful covers they mention on their website. This CD will definitely go on my iPod for some top-down driving music this spring.

Note-perfect cowboy music
author: Dan Laidman, Punk Planet
This is sweetly haunting, note-perfect cowboy music. ...The vocalist is blessed with the ideal alt-country voice, a subtle twang that anchors enough understated emotion to fill a hundred miles of wide open prarie. It takes real talent to glide between heartbreak and honky tonk, and these guys do beautifully.
