Album Notes

This is the newest album by Delta Reign titled "Home", with a swampy, menu theme and a selection of fourteen songs as diverse as the delta itself. Flowing out of the bluegrass genre, seasoned with the musical flavors of the region, Delta Reign presents a taste of the musical bounty from their area of the gulf coast. From the original, feel good title cut, "Home", written by Benita Murphy, to the jazz influenced last track "Slow Your Current Down", written by area musician Dave Ellis, the album offers a tasteful and satisfying experience. An unusual feature on the inside of the album, is a custom "Coubion" recipe written for Delta Reign by area gourmet chef, Tony Nicholas, who in keeping with the theme, utilized ingredients and seasonings indigenous to the Mobile River delta region.

There is a fresh new sound from the gulf coast. Formed in the fall of '04, Delta Reign's bluegrass has evolved into something that progressive as well as traditional fans can appreciate. The band is driven by strong fiddle and banjo, pushed along with swing rhythms and solid upright bass. With tight bluegrass harmonies woven throughout, the music ranges from hard, "straight down the pike" traditional bluegrass, to softer, songwriter stylings, to western swing and jazz.
From originals, to covers or traditional tunes arranged in their "swingy, delta style", Delta Reign keeps the listener entertained with unique arrangements and song selection.
