Album Notes

PLAYERS: Tom yelled and played guitar and wrote all the lyrics and stuff. Sturgis played drums and sang backgroundy things. On This Broken Place, Tom hit some stuff at the end and Sturgis hit some stuff, too. Sturg played the glockenspiel, too. On Another Big Mistake, Tom overdubbed some bass and banjo. Mr. Jon Wynn kindly contributed some lap steel.

EQUIPMENT: Tom mostly played his Telecaster through his Sunn SL260, but sometimes he played his chewed-up old Aria Pro and used Sturgis’ Vox AC-30 a little bit. He often stepped on his Roland Space Echo and his Russian Big Muff, with inconclusive results. Sturgis played Shawn’s old Pearl set on most of the songs, a variety of snare drums, and his green suitcase on Another Big Mistake. This EP was recorded using Tom’s old Alienware tower, a Tango24 AD/DA thing, and a Mackie mixer. We used a bunch of SM57s, a D6 for the kick drum, and a free MXL condenser mic which was actually pretty okay. Tom mixed everything in Adobe Audition, which is sort of a shitty old program, but he’s used to it. Recorded & mixed late 2010 in Northampton, Massachusetts.
