Album Notes

The Desert Trilogy and Other Sacred Songs Music by Denice Rippentrop Performed by The Sonoran Desert Chorale and The World Voices
Established in 1994, the Chorale has continues to evolve from that first emotional and satisfying concert to a highly regarded and artistically sophisticated choral organization conducted by Mr. Jeff Harris. The Chorale originates from Phoenix, AZ. Audiences have experienced traditions spanning time from the ancient folk music of Mongolia to the premier of modern compositions such as The Desert Trilogy by Denice Rippentrop. The Chorale performs a repertoire meant to demonstrate that music is a language which transcends our differences and accentuates our commonality.
World Voices was formed in 1996 by Dr. Karle Erickson, Artistic Director & Conductor. Minneapolis, MN, is the home of the World Voices. An experience in New York City one summer in the late 1950’s was the influence that steered him into beginning a musical ensemble that exclusively performs global music. He spent 6 weeks in the Bronx with young people of all races, colors and creeds. He wanted to use music as a means to bring people together, to help get rid of the stereotypes and prejudices, to think outside our own comfortable boxes, and to further open our minds and souls to the fascinating differences and similarities that arise from varying cultural backgrounds.
Composing innovative, high quality, sacred and secular choral music is the core of Denice Rippentrop’s professional and personal life. She uses her tremendous talent to bring modern choral music to audiences in a high creative yet accessible manner. Her works have been performed and broadcast in the United States and abroad.
