Denis Valerga is a proficient musician in his own right, specialising in guitars (all types) as well as piano/keyboards. He has been playing as one half of the VALERGA BROTHERS with his brother Henry for many years, performing in Gibraltar – their home town – as well as various venues in Spain and UK.
As a natural progression for this talented musician, he turned his creativity to composing music. This he did first for his own songs, but for several years now, has been composing for many other artists as well. In recent years he has won several Song Festival completions in Spain and in Gibraltar, where in 2007 he did a double whammy winning both first and second prizes!
Denis read a poem (Soldier-Soldier) by David Bentata and liked the turn of phrase and feelings so lucidly expressed. David is a businessman with a penchant for writing poems and short stories in both English & Spanish. David and Denis joined forces in a venture to record and produce a full CD composed from the 10 Love Poems he had written, in Spanish, about a fictitious and illicit love affair. Taking the title “DANAE” from the paining of that name by Gustav Klimt, the songs lead the listener through the feelings and emotions of a love-struck man, to the inevitable end of the affair.
The result is a beautiful blend of tasteful and yet exciting music that sets off the emotions and sentiments of a desperate love.
It is music to bask on and listen to; words to absorb and internalise, all in a blend of the highest quality.
